NATIONAL LGBT TASK FORCE LEADERSHIP AWARD

I headed down to Miami to recieve the Task Force Leadership Award.

The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force recognizes the leadership and contributions of individuals who have made significant contributions to the progressive movement in general and the fight for equality for LGBT people specifically

POINT FOUNDATION COURAGE AWARD

I went to LA to receive the Point Foundation Courage award.

In my speech I talked about how I didn't feel I was courageous.  I feel I just live my life and tell my story. But I do understand that I have some power. So, with the help of my Point Foundation mentee (I became one of their mentors after attending an event in NYC), we coined the phrase 'responsible use of power' and that is the spirit in which I accepted the award!

State of California Proclamation

After my performance of I Bought A Blue Car Today at the Castro Theatre in San Francisco I was given a Proclamation from the State of California.

Congratulations and welcome to the Castro Theatre as you bring us your highly acclaimed hit show 'Alan Cumming: I Bought a Blue Car Today!' I commend your many successes on the stage, screen and television as you continue to share your wit and charm with your audiences. I further commend your selfless commitment to raising funds and awareness for issues impacting the LGBTQ community. It is through the efforts of individuals such as you that the future becomes brighter for all. Congratulations and thank you!

Theater Offensive Keep The Faith Award

Theater Offensive, the theater company that specialises in queer culture and politics based in Boston, honored me with their inaugural Out On The Edge Award for my impact on LGBT culture through bold artistry and leadership.

Sadly I wasn't able to go and get it due to work committments but the lovely Christian Sirriano went in my stead and I made this video to be played on the evening.
