DRAMA LEAGUE HONOR

For my performance as Mac the Knife in The Threepenny Opera, I was honoured by the Drama League of NYC at their annual luncheon.

I also hosted the event.

SEDONA FILM FESTIVAL BIRKNER HUMANITARIAN AWARD

I attended the Sedona Film Festival with Ali Selim and our film Sweet Land, and was given the Birkner Humanitarian Award for my work in combating discrimination and fighting for equal rights.

THE HUMAN RIGHTS CAMPAIGN ELIZABETH BIRCH EQUALITY AWARD

Alan Cumming receives Elizabeth Birch Equality Award

I got 2 shows off from Bent in London so I could fly to Dallas to receive The Elizabeth Birch Equality Award  from the Human Rights Campaign at the Dallas-Fort Worth Black Tie Dinner. The Elizabeth Birch Equality Award is given annually to an individual, corporation or organization that has made a significant national contribution to lesbian and gay equality.

LONG ISLAND GAY AND LESBIAN YOUTH AWARD

I flew back to the States from London, where I was rehearsing Bent to be honoured by LIGALY  (Long Island Gay and Lesbian Youth) at their On The Bay summer event in Bellport. The brilliant playwright Terence McNally presented me with the award.

GLAAD VITO RUSSO AWARD

I was really honoured to receive the The Vito Russo Award at the GLAAD Media Awards in New York in March. My friend Jessica Lange presented it to me.

The award is presented to an openly gay or lesbian member of the entertainment or media community for outstanding contributions toward eliminating homophobia.

THEATREGOER'S CHOICE AWARD NOMINATION

For my performance as Max in Bent at Trafalgar Studios, London, I was nominated for a Theatregoer's Choice Best Actor award.

UNIVERSITY OF ABERTAY HONOURARY DOCTORATE OF ARTS

The University of Abertay, Dundee gave me an Honourary Doctorate of Arts for my contribution to film, theatre and televison and for my campaigning in the field of HIV/AIDS education and awareness.

I am a doctor finally!
