I played Brandon Lee in Jono McLeod’s documentary My Old School, which premiered at Sundance 2022 and I attended the Glasgow and Dublin film festivals to promote the film.

I read the audiobook of Kenny and the Book of Beasts, by Tony DiTerlizzi the sequel to Kenny and the Dragon which I read in 2008.
Schmigadoon
I went to Canada to shoot this six part series for AppleTV+. It was written by Cinco Paul and directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, and stars Cecily Strong and Keegan Michael Kay as a couple who go on a backpacking trip designed to reinvigorate their relationship when they discover the magical town of Schmigadoon, in which everyone acts as if they’re in a studio musical from the 1940s. They then discover that they can’t leave until they find “true love.”
I play the Mayor of Schmigadoon and the series also stars Kristin Chenoweth, Fred Armisen, Dove Cameron, Jaime Camil, Ariana Debose, Jane Krakowski, Aaron Tveit and Ann Harada.

I kept pretty busy during the Covid lockdowns. Here are some of the things I took part in…
…the documentary about the Edinburgh Festival My Light Shines On; the video for KT Tunstall’s song Wash Ya Hands; I read The Adventures of Honey and Leon for Save The Children UK and; I was part of the Global Health choir for Judy Collins’ Amazing Grace; I read from the Ancient Mariner; I did a reading from Jean Rhys’ After Leaving Mr Mackenzie for the American Library in Paris; I worked out for Project Zero; I talked about Shuggie Bain for the Booker Prize; I presented Sienna Miller with a Television Humanitarian award; I was interviewed for Outright TV; I read from Maria Dahvana Headley’s new translation of Beowulf ; I executive produced Jason Suran’s Reconnected mentalist show; I sang a song for the All Together Now LA telethon and the Broadway Special On Stage At Home ; I made a PSA about voting for the Creative Arts Council; I did a zoom reading of Uncle Vanya;
I also gave shoutouts to the New York Public Library, the AARP, the Gay Men’s Health Crisis, the Roundabout Theatre, Masks for Scotland, the Edinburgh Fringe, the NEM Network,
The Prince
In this HBO Max animated series I play Owen, butler to Prince George (voiced by the show’s creator Gary Janetti)
The play also star Orlando Bloom as Prince Harry, Condola Rashad at Meghan Markle, Lucy Punch as Kate Middleton, Tom Hollander as both Prince Philip and Prince Charles, Frances De La Tour as Queen Elizabeth, and Iwan Rheon as Prince William
Out of the Woods
As part of the National Theatre of Scotland’s Scenes for Survival series, I performed (and shot) this three part series Out of the Woods, written by Johnny McKnight and directed by Andrew Panton. I filmed it all, alone, in the woods around. my house in the Catskill mountains of New York.
Endgame
I went back to work in London after a very long time to play Hamm in Beckett’s Endgame, opposite Daniel Radcliffe as Nagg. The play was directed by Richard Jones, who I’d worked with 28 years previously in the British premiere of David Hirson’s La Bete. The play also starred Jane Horrocks (who was my first ever Sally Bowles in Cabaret at the Donmar in 1993) and Karl Johnson, who I’d worked with on the Radio 4 version of Ivanov in the early90s.
Endgame was in a double bill with the shorter, less know Beckett play Rough For Theatre II
