Second Cumming

I launched my second fragrance, cleverly entitled Second Cumming!  We threw a really fun party at the newly opened Ace Hotel in NYC.

Here's what my co-conspirator, parfumier Christopher Brosius, has to say about it...

Tommy's Tale

Finally! Ten years after the book came out I recorded the audiobook of Tommy’s Tale! It was fascinating to go back and explore it, and to seer its flaws (and good bits too).

The Good Wife: Season 3

I returned to the CBS drama series for a third season. This year saw my character, Eli Gold, come and work at the offices of Lockhart Gardner from where he operated his crisis management and consultant company. Also Parker Posey appeared as Eli's ex-wife, and he had another romance with his nemesis, played by Amy Sedaris. This season was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed the way the character expanded, and how his personal life was delved into. He is still uptight, ruthless and highly strung, but he also had some more tender moments, and some sex!

Goliath

I read the audiobook of Goliath, the final instalment in Scott Westerfeld's Leviathan trilogy.

Any Day Now

Any Day Now was written and directed by Travis Fine and is the story of a gay couple in the 1970s and their struggle to keep custody of a down syndrome child who they have become fathers to. It was shot in Los Angeles in May/June 2011.

Myself and Garret Dillahunt play the gay couple, and the amazing Isaac Levya is Marco. I was immediately drawn to this incredible story. It really is a beautiful one and confounds your expectations and challenges your prejudices about what a family means.  I was also keen to do the film because I am sad to say that things haven't really changed all that much for same sex couples in the arena of adoptions since the film was set. There are certain states where it is possible but in most it is still utterly impossible to do without going elsewhere, usually abroad, or through surrogacy. So the activist in me and the artist in me were both conjoined in perfect harmony in the character of Rudy Donatello.

It won audience awards at over ten film festivals, including Tribeca where it premiered. I  was given Best Actor awards from Outfest, Seattle, Key West, and Napa Valley  film festivals.

It was released in the US on December 14th 2012, and in the UK in September 2013

The Money Pet

I did the voice over for this short film, directed by my old friend Gary Hawes.

Macbeth: A Novel

I read the novel version by David Hewson and A.J. Hartley of Shakespeare's Macbeth, or Audible. I have always loved the play so to be able to read aloud this novel which explores all the back stories, and to play all the characters was a really amazing experience.

In Concert

In the spring of 2011 I performed my cabaret show in Pittsburgh, Palm Springs, Joe's Pub in NYC, Atlanta and Chicago as well as the AMFAR gala in San Francisco and a couple of shows aboard an Atlantis cruise ship in the Caribbean!

Once more I returned into the breach as host ofMasterpiece Mystery, coming out of the shadows to set the scene for the PBS mystery fare.

First Things Last

My friend and musical maestro Lance Horne released his debut album First things Last.  I open the disc singing his amazing song American.

To celebrate I joined Lance and a bunch of the peeps who sing on the record, and some other friends, and  gave two concerts, first at the Allen Room of the Lincoln Center in NYC and then in London at the Garrick Theatre.
