I played King James (the Ist of England and the 6th of Scotland!) in an episode of Dr Who, played for the first time by a woman - the wonderful Jodie Whittaker. It was a very cold and wet shoot in rural areas around Cardiff in Wales, but the little boy in me was pretty excited to be acting in a show that was such a part of my childhood.
There have been a lot of mentions in the press and online about me having been offered the role of Doctor Who in the past. Here’s the truth: I haven’t been. I was approached about possibly doing it a couple of times, but I never turned it down because I was never actually offered it.
