glenrothan

Glenrothan is the story of two brothers, Donal and Sandy, played by me and Brian Cox. After there mother’s death a schism in the family caused Donal (me) to flee to America and make a new life for himself, leaving Sandy to stay with their father and run the family distillery business. Now, 35 years later, Donal returns home a broken man, and is forced to reckon with his history and family duty.

Brian Cox direct the film and it also starred Shirley Henderson, Alexandra Shipp and a slew of amazing Scottish actors including my old High Life cohort Siobhan Redmond.

Borges and Me

I played the Scottish poet Alastair Reid in the movie Borges and Me, based on the memoir by Jay Parini and directed by Marc Turtletaub.

The film is about the Argentian writer Jorges Luis Borges, who comes to Scotland to visit my character (his translator and friend) in St Andrews. There, a young American student (Parini) played by Fionn Whitehead, who Alastair is mentoring, has to take Borges on what turns out to be a magical road trip across Scotland when the ill health of a relative takes Alastair and his son away to London.

Death Do Us Part

I played Lord Ingannmorte in Death Do Us Part, written by Abigail Ory and Masha Strasburger, and directed by Abigail Ory and David Chavez-Grant.

I shot for only a few but fun days at the Palazzo Farnese in Caprarola, about one-hour northwest of Rome.

Ari'el Stachel, Zara Devlin, Riccardo de Rinaldis, Ian O'Reilly, Laura Morante, Lidia Vitale, and Darko Peric are also in the cast.
