I am a Patron of the Birks Cinema, in Aberfeldy, Scotland, which was saved and renovated and reopened in its current glorious form in 2013. Aberfeldy is also my birthplace!

It is such a success story about how a community can be reinvigorated through the arts. Now the Birks not only shows movies, and saves people traveling many miles as they had to in the past to see a film, it also has a thriving cafe and many community groups come together for meetings and perfomances and knitting and just plain old craic.

I’m proud ot have been a part of its renewal.
